Is the air that comes out of the center outlet split according to the driver/passenger temperature settings, or is it just controlled by the driver setting?
That is, does it matter where the center temperature is measured?
(Can the temperature on the left side be different than the right side of the same outlet if the system is working properly)
Makes sense to change the passenger setting and see if it changes the center outlet air temp.
(Service manual has a table with the "max. left center air temperature", so it made me curious)
Thanks
With dual temperature controls, the left control sets the drivers side temperature, and the **** on the right allows the passenger to adjust the temperature either warmer or colder than the driver setting.
You don't actually see a display of the passenger temp. setting, just a plus or minus adjustment from base temp. setting.
but there is no way to set one side 60 and the other 80. It only changes a few degrees at best.
You are correct that the passenger side does not have the full range of temperature settings, just +/- maybe 10 degrees, so I was not taking the settings literally.
However, the temperature should change enough that if it affects the center duct temperature, you would be able to detect it.
What I found was that the passenger side control does not affect the center outlet, just the two on the passenger side.
