I have been experiencing an extremely squeeky noise. I am unable to pinpoint the pulley. I have checked the belt, it's fine. I have applied belt dressing, works for about 2 min. Sprayed silicon on pulley centers, nothing, by oversparyed on Harmonic balancer belt and stopped for about 10 min. Anybody have any suggestions.
Totally different car, but my '95 Z-28 does this periodically. The only fix I've found is to replace the belt. I probably replace it at least once a year. The last time they talked me into the "high quality" (more expensive) one, but it didn't last any longer than the cheap one. I'll be ticked if the Vette ends up doing this too!
Mine has been doing the same thing. I did the belt dressing, and it worked for a few min. But the squeek came back worse :mad , I don't recommend using dressing. I had the belt changed, and drove the car for a few hunderd miles to wear the dressing off the pulley. The squeek has went away. ps. my belt was cracked
Be sure to check your A/C belt also. I had the same problem, replaced the main serpentine belt twice before I noticed the "second" belt which is pretty much hidden...It's for the A/C only. Good luck! :yesnod:
I've had the same problem with my Yukon since I bought it. It's been to the dealer at least 2 or 3 times and they never get it fixed for more than a couple of months. :mad
There is a TSB on this. I had mine repaired a while back and the fix stopped the squealing. It is TSB 99-06-01-007, dated may, 1999, Subject: Accessory Drive Squeak (Replace Idler Pulley). You can get a copy off the ALLDATA web site or (hopefully) from your dealership. I believe that the dealer also replaced the belt tensioner assembly under this bulletin or another one relating to a similar problem. Good luck.
This is quite interesting...mine started squealing after I cut-out the fog-light housings and drove in a torrential downpour...and I attributed it to the engine bay getting soaked. Funny enough, when I popped the hood to inspect, the bay was super clean, and showed no signs of water intrusion. I'll try the TSB on for size and see if that's the ticket!
