Default timing cover removal

How involved is removing the timing cover? My Oil return from my turbos into the valve cover is causing a leak along the rim of the valve cover. I want to tap the timing cover and return there instead. Of if there is a more Viable option I'd like to know. Opinions?

Why not go straight to the oil pan?

Or into the oil cooler lines. Just a thought.

On second thought that's probably not a good idea as they are both pressurized. So, maybe valve covers?

The oilpan was an option i was considering as well, but the way it looks I would need to drop the cross member to get the space necessary for a drill and tap.

They are already returned to the valve covers. Problem is oil floods the bottom of the seals and causes some pretty bad seepage.

To get the timing cover off you need to remove the harmonic damper, steering rack, water pump, etc. Not sure the pan would be harder to do. Also, there are at times stock pans in the for sale section. You could buy and modify the pan then simply swap it out. This keeps chips out of the motor. A number of guys have dropped the pan.

How far does the cradle have to drop to do this? Couple inches? Feet? Ship it to China? I'll see if i can find any online resources for this, another section said Roto Broach will minnimize chips and you can cut to the inner wall a pick outt he rest without any chips. I just wonder how hard it is to get a drill in there.

Does the hole have to be above the oil level?

I'd rather pull the valley cover and modify it to accept a return, if there is a place it can be accessed. Then it can be replaced with a cheap new one if you decide to go back stock.

Might be an option although you would need to be careful where you introduce the oil and not sure how big a line you can snake under the intake. Might also be a good time to upgrade to the later valley cover with the built in PCV restrictor that eliminates the PCV valve.

I found the tapping locations from a supercharger install guide. Doesn't look to complicated. Plus I have the newer pan with the access plate to reduce my chances of shavings. If I want to go back to stock I will just use a block off fitting as I will be using AN fittings to seal my connections.
