The effort required to go between gears seems quite excessive. It is to the point that it would slow down shifts considerably over the stock slush box.
The shifter was already in the car I just bought.
What gives? Is there some adjustment?
Also, this is not my first vette with a shifter and mods.
A shifter is not designed to make it shift slower than stock, just more deliberate. I honestly do not know why someone would have this shifter in the car over the stock one for racing with its current setup. It is THAT HARD to change gears with.
I should not have to work to get the car in gear.
It is not about how manly you are or other. My Hurst shifter should not make the car worse.
Thanks

Same here,
I purchased my car with a HURST already installed. The shifter itself its crazy short but,
its very notchy to get into gears.
After the anti venom mod with two washers its was easier to move around. The bad about that was after the antivenom mod the shifter was too sloppy. By that i mean it wouldn't return to the neutral position so easily and just didn't feel right rowing through gears.
Long story short, took out the Hurst, replaced it with an MGW. All smiles here

Hope it helps
Thanks. I'll take that into account. I may be joining you. I will go maybe a week with this shifter the way it is and then stock is back in for a bit.
I also bought mine with the hurst already installed. I have not driven a C5 with a stock shifter but, after test driving a C6 Z06 the other day and feeling a stock shifter for the first time I may change it back. The guy I bought the car from gave me all of the stock parts he had changed out including the shifter.
I bought the Hurst when it first came out. It was noisy and tiring to drive. I did one small trip with it and it came out shortly after that. I went with the C6 shifter, which at the time was the new kid on the block. It has been nothing short of perfect for me. It is smooth and shorter shifting than the original C5 stock shifter.
I may be a heretic, but I think the Hurst sucks and it ruined the whole driving experience in the car
