Default New Bosch Starter

Just an FYI

My car pulled the no start, out of the blue 2 weeks ago. Gave the solenoid a couple of whacks, started right up and has worked ever since.
I'm sure it will likely quit again.

So I bought a new Bosch starter from NAPA. Picked it up today. It has the beefier mounting and came with the longer bolt. NAPA was having a sale, so got it for $129.

I also bought a solenoid from EBAY, $25.....I'll install it on the old starter and use it for my turbo 5.3 project. There was no starter on the L33 from the boneyard.

Bosch products are generally good quality.

Did you buy the SR8581N?

The improved starter nose with the equal length bolts is a MUCH stronger / sturder design and will help prevent this:

I had the same issue just bought the solenoid from ebay for 25 shipped. Did the swap and starts everytime saved me ALOT of money. I think most people just buy new starters when it's usually the solenoid that goes out. I should start buying old starters.

Yep!

Chicago....the solenoid is hard to find. By design I suspect. I agree though, that's why I did both, I will need 2 starters.
