Default c5 brake booster

hello fellow vette lovers I have a 00 frc when the car is running I can hear what im guessing is a air leak it makes a loud sucking sound that is coming from the brake booster when u press the brake pedal it quiets it down but I can still hear it . is that a sign of the booster is on its way out ? thanks

YES!!! I had one go bad on my Black Z06 last year, about an hour to replace.

Figure 75 for a used one, pull the brake master cyl. and the 4 nuts inside the firewall.

Done.

BEFORE PULLING THE BOOSTER, pull the hose off and put your thumb on it to create a seal while the car is running to eliminate the possibility of the hose being bad.

Run the engine for a few minutes. Shut it off.

See if you hear the same noise at the booster as soon as the engine is OFF.

Wait 10-15 minutes and then pop out the vacuum line fitting on the booster! There should be a release of vacuum from inside the booster.

If you pop out the vacuum line fitting on the booster, it should release the vacuum. If it doesnt have any vacuum, the booster is bad.

I have a new one in box that I would sell (I got it a year ago, thinking my booster had died, but it turned out to be a vacuum leak). I never installed the brake booster, but have it.

Do you still have the C5 booster for sale?

I believe mine to be bad, how did you get access to the 4 mounting bolts on the inside of the fire wall? Currently have the dash off
