am new to the forum,,,so hope am doing this right,,, I just bought a 2001 zo6 all stock expect for a vararam forced air sytem.am looking for a much louder, throatie exhaust system without changing the stock manifolds,,any ideas ,,,,,,thanks
You can get what you're after with an axle back swap. If you want "much" louder, you may be a straight pipe kind of guy like me.. I recommend climbing under and simply unbolting the exhaust from the mid pipe and running the car with no mufflers just to get an idea of what it sounds like. Then you can decide if you want to go quieter with a small muffler equipped axle back, or get straight pipes to fine tune the straight pipe sound. (sounds a lot better with actual pipes) but the running with no exhaust will give an idea of the tone.
Also the Vararam is a "ram-air", not "forced-air" system. That will rub a lot of people the wrong way haha.
Best to get to a Corvette gathering to sample various exhaust systems.
"Sounds good" is a very personal taste. Some owners would run their cars "Harley" loud if they could while others are more than pleased with factory systems.

You just have to get around the cars and hear them firsthand. It's just too subjective. You can get somewhat of an idea listening to Youtube videos though.
