I could never repair that and then trade it in or sell it to someone without divulging the truth about the repair.
Can you imagine if a dealer sold that to some new corvette enthusiast and shortly thereafter they find out they have to replace the crank or the entire short block?
Yea that's what I decided thinking strolling it out 383 all forged internals, beefed up cam with ls6 heads bigger injectors fast 102 mm intake with some headers. Have not done all my research yet though so I'm sure some of it will change. Also but a new clutch in well motor out
Just to start an argument what if I was to weld the balancer on for a temp fix I mean the crank already **** it might hold for another 5-10 thousand miles
You might weaken the crank snout to the point that one missed shift and could watch a flying saucer coming through your hood or worse. It's not an option.

Damn, I can't watch this thread anylonger....go buy yourself a Mustang...
Crankshafts can be welded and repaired. Take it to a good crank grinder to get it fixed. It is done everyday and it will be just as good as new. Good time to do a few mods and freshen up your engine. Have it and you new balance keyed at the same time.
Getting the crank OUT will be a project itself, most of the drivetrain has to come apart. If the snout is still round enough and large enough to have somewhat of a resonably snug fit, pinning it is you best/cheapest option.
I almost have the motor out just got done building my 89 firebird formula 350. I had the machine shop tear apart and put the new internals in it. I think this one I will do my self been look for 383 kits anyone know of any or what company's to stay away from. Firebird almost back together so I'm going to take my time and make this build worth it
