I have the passport 9500ix. Escort live is a feature that outdoes any radar detector on the market. It's community that allows you to pin gps locations of cops for other motorists to view their location using the app. I've found this extremely useful - especially on the highway. Also the gps based false signal storage is amazing. I couldn't stand having the detector go off at every door opener around my area. With the gps enabled detector, it sees the same signal 3 times in the same gps location, and locks it out. You also have the option of manually locking out signals.

I just got the passport max, it's bulkier than my 9500ix but it's got a better display and the gps seems to be more receptive than the 9500ix.

not sure how well that would work when police speed trap the same areas over and over

it only blocks out k and x band, and you have the option to unlock it. Most cops use KA band or laser. You can also disable the locking all together.

V1 in everything we own

Like was said above,,,, you get spoiled !!!

Instant on is a problem,,,, you have to hope you catch a shot from someone in front of you.

That's where a little common sense comes in,,,, running 100 all alone on a road your gonna get caught !!!

I have had the v1 and 9500ix, I like the 9500ix features more but the v1's range is much better. If I had to redo it i would def pick the v1 although the new escort suppose to have better range and gps then the 9500ix

I get a cheap and cheesy products magazine in the mail every few months and I noticed they have a radar detector by "Rocky Mountain Radar" I think thats the name. It says it also jams radar and laser signals and that it is not detectable. Anyone heard of this brand? And are they any good? The price on one model is around $150-$160, the other model, which claims more range and stronger jamming capabilities is about $260.

Buy one and report back how expensive your ticket was.

Gee are V1 that expensive?? I got the whole kit the big one and the
little one for Christmas one year. I had tried other radar detectors
over the years and the V1 is far superior to others.

There's some jamming going on, but it ain't when your driving down the road.

Used to have a V1; lost it somewhere just about the time instant on lasers were coming out and never replaced mine.

I've been wondering about instant-on lasers lightin' me up... I guess ya'll are saying there's no defense, right?

Since I lost it, I've changed my habits. I'll lead but at no more than the limit plus 5mph (especially in this RED VETTE). If someone wants to bogart, I'm more than willing to accommodate a personal scout. I'll give'm about a 500-600 yard lead and tail 'em until they get off or I get where I'm going. It's especially nice when the F-250's and their Dodge and GM counterparts take the lead--nuthin' like having a big scout you can see forever out in front. In just the last 2 years, I can think of 5 tickets I've seen 'Scout' take for me crossing the country on I-10.

I've gotten spoiled by the local LEO's though; they're pretty forgiving. 80 in a 65 might be the limit of their patience. I've never pushed past, to 81, but they'll tolerate 80 on the open road. Can't take that attitude out of state though, and in CA with an out-of-state plate, I'm coastin' at 3+mph no matter where I am.

Ya these Rocky Mountain devices are a total scam.
If you want a real laser jammer get a Blinder or better still the Laser Interceptor.
These devices work and the Laser Interceptor even announces in a sexy chick's voice what gun the LEO is using.

Instant on Radar Guns leaves you open to get a Ticket for the pleasure of the road.. Radar detectors, no matter what type, work great as long as your not a lead or lone car on the highway..The radar guns work so effective that after their trigger is pulled the equipment does not bleed any power and leaves your unit exposed till the trigger is pulled again.. So if you are the Lone or Lead car in a speed trap your detector is useless cause when the unit gives you a warning it is to later to protect you.

Default Nobody here in MD uses radar anymore only LIDAR and if they shoot you ur TOAST

The LEOs here have gone to LIDAR or commonly called LASER. They pick up your vette even if you are slower than the Toyota or Honda next to you and pull YOU over. Went to court on that as I came to a stoplight with a Honda right next to me. After starting up the LEO pulled me over saying that they go for the "HIGH ROLLERS" meaning that my vette was better to ticket than the Honda. What a croc. Its just MONEY they want and the LEO is always right here in MD. BTW I was clocked before I stopped at the red light without screeching or going past the stop line at 42 in a 35 MPH zone. More revenue for money starved Montgomery county.

"All the cops are criminals, and all the sinners saints"
Rolling Stones

Well the police have to break the law to enforce it otherwise they wouldn't catch many criminals, that"s the great law enforcement irony.
Look at Snowdon's revelations about "Parallel Construction" basically an admission of routine Perjury.
It also fits into my we all want something for nothing Moral Hazard theory
where it's only a matter of how much sin you can live with.
This explains much of human behaviour.
Your case sounds like Moral Hazard with some plain jealousy justifying the sin the LEO can live with.
Last time I drove through Maryland I was surprised how many LEOs there were
running around compared to surrounding states.
I guess they all have to do something.
With a jammer which I believe is legal in Maryland, you could take the typical 3 seconds to respond by slowing down and turning it off so the LEO could get a legal time.
Even laser doesn't work momentarily if you are greatly slowing down due to doppler so blank guns for a second or 2 happen naturally.
I suppose if you had the nerve you could even use it in court to say the cop got the other guy since you were jamming him LOL! because the police are corrupt
(LEO pulled me over saying that they go for the "HIGH ROLLERS" meaning that my vette was better to ticket than the Honda)

and you can prove it.
