hey i know this is an old discussion and i have been looking all around the forums.
i have a 99 Manual trans vette and i was wondering about the paper blocking rings
Some synthetics work and some dont in every bodies opinion
i read the ultimate thead thing on the sticky
it says that Honda ATF Z1 is ok to use, what about there new and improved ATF- DW1
Also is royal purple and amsoil ATD compatible with the paper blocker rings
this tranny fluid discussion gets complicated lol
i really think the paper thing is overdone. I really like royal purple synchromesh. do not use the royal purple regular tranny fluid, it sux! The GM stuff is pretty good too g/L
I have never seen a post about a problem using the GM recommended manual transmission fluid either... GM still sells their manual transmission and transfer case fluid, though it is not labeled Dexron III anymore.

I know there's no complaints about the gm recommendation, vut I'm looking for a fluid that can take a little more heat and put up with a little more avuse on my part, I'm new to driving manual and I want it to put up with extra stress I still give my car while I'm figuring the basics
