I'm having an A&A Vortech kit installed on my C5 and was wondering what the opinions are regarding this oil filter magnet

Well here is the dirty little secret about oil filters and oil filter adapters; most have a bypass built into them. The bypass usually opens at no more than 22psi. Once oil pressure exceeds the bypass, only a portion of the oil gets filtered.
A magnet placed around the outside of the filter will draw some of the ferrous particulates out of the oil and hold them against the oil filter housing.
