Default mis fire

Well I picked up a mis fire on my 02 coupe 6speed . I think that I have a coil going bad and hope its not a broken rocker arm. I feel like its a coil because it does not do it when its cold but after it heats up it idles bad and misses when taking off from a stop. You can ref up the engine when its warm and it will miss pretty good but you cant feel anything while driving at a steady speed and that's what has got me confused. Just thought I would throw this out there and see what all of you think. If anyone has a couple of stock coils that they are not using and are not asking to much for them I might try and weed out the bad one by replacing them one or two at a time. Well thanks for any advice from any and all .

Well,,,,,,,,,,,,, If it were me,,,,,, I would inspect the plugs and wires. You can OHM the wires and they should read around 350 OHMS for stock wires. (Spec 250-750 Ohms OEM wires) If you find that the plugs and or the wires are bad, replace the plugs and wires.. Use stock Irridul plugs and GM Performance Red Wires www.gmpartshouse.com Call Gene or Patrick and get ya some. Around $60.

Default mis fire

Bill , I installed new wires and plugs when I put the headers on it about a year ago. It acts like a coil breaking down when it heats up but I wanted to run it by the forum members to see if anybody has run across the same problem. I wanted to ask before taking the valve covers off and getting into it to deep. If anybody has a couple of coils laying around that are good and you might want to sell them let me know please.

Before you get too deep in replacing things,, try this

Examine the FEMALE pins in all the coil and injector connectors, the main coil connector and also carefully examine the engine wiring harness on the drivers side of the engine. That harness gets a lot of abuse and can rub thru and damage wires. Especially where it bends around the rear of the fuel rail on that black metal bracket. Also examine Ground G-107 on the back of the drivers head.

I have the same problem. No codes. Doesn't matter if hot or cold. I replace the spark plug, cables, and ohm'ed out the coils. All good ( I think). Going to check the injectors next.

Well I finally got time to check out the vette and see what the problem was. I found that #3 plug wire is shorting out on the #1 header tube. All the plug wires are straight on the ends and I need one that has a little angle on it. Well should be a easy fix just have to find the right wire for that spot. I want to thank all of you that posted up your thoughts and advice.
