Default BFG KD vs. KD SSS

Are the KD SSS (run flat) as good as the KDs (non-SSS, non-runflat).

I was planning on puttting on a set of Z06 wheels with BF Goodrich KDs. After all the reasearch I did I concluded that the KDs were the best option for my needs. However, I have now decided to stay with my stock wheels so I will be sticking with the stock sizes. The problem is that stock size KDs are only available in the SSS (run flat) version.

Would non-run flat Pilots (or others) be better than KD SSS. I am looking for optimal dry weather performance. I do not care much about wet traction. I do mostly street driving with an occasional drag race and auto cross.

I don't think the SSS's are as sticky as the non runflat KDs but they are still probably the best runflat tire available.

I agree with MattG. Not quite as much sticktion as the KD, but that's like saying the F-16 is not as fast as the F-15: either one is still your best bet. I have had the KD-SSS for 2 years and they are a great tire. A HUGE improvement over the EMT and noticeably stickier than the Firehawks.

Just get a second set of wheels with Kumho track tires if you want track performance.

Sorry, almost missed this...I am running the KD-SSS in stock sizes on the stock rims. That is 245/45 17 front and 275/40-18 rear. I don't think the tire is available in any other size.

The Kumhos are 275/40-17 front and 315/35-17 rear on CCW rims.

You gotta drive a Vette with race tires to see what these cars are truly capable of. Amazing. :D :D :D

I agree with Matt. I've tried the G-Force KD's and was very happy with them. You may see if you can fit the slightly wider KD's on your stock rims.

Another tire you may want to consider is the Supercar tires. They are now suppose to be available in stock C5 sizes.
