Are the KD SSS (run flat) as good as the KDs (non-SSS, non-runflat).
I was planning on puttting on a set of Z06 wheels with BF Goodrich KDs. After all the reasearch I did I concluded that the KDs were the best option for my needs. However, I have now decided to stay with my stock wheels so I will be sticking with the stock sizes. The problem is that stock size KDs are only available in the SSS (run flat) version.
Would non-run flat Pilots (or others) be better than KD SSS. I am looking for optimal dry weather performance. I do not care much about wet traction. I do mostly street driving with an occasional drag race and auto cross.
I agree with MattG. Not quite as much sticktion as the KD, but that's like saying the F-16 is not as fast as the F-15: either one is still your best bet. I have had the KD-SSS for 2 years and they are a great tire. A HUGE improvement over the EMT and noticeably stickier than the Firehawks.
Just get a second set of wheels with Kumho track tires if you want track performance.
Sorry, almost missed this...I am running the KD-SSS in stock sizes on the stock rims. That is 245/45 17 front and 275/40-18 rear. I don't think the tire is available in any other size.
The Kumhos are 275/40-17 front and 315/35-17 rear on CCW rims.
You gotta drive a Vette with race tires to see what these cars are truly capable of. Amazing. :D :D :D
