Default Vacuum line going to AIR pump

I'm deleting the AIR system on my 04 Z and while removing it I noticed a vacuum line going to a check valve beside the pump. What is that vacuum line for? I just blocked it off.

I'd like to bump this for an answer.

I as well just blocked off the small vacuum line, but am now wondering if I should have left it open for something?

That is the air pump shutoff valve. You should plug the vacuum line going to it since you are deleting the system.

Good deal, as that's what I did. Just wanted a little confirmation on that decision. Thanks!

I am sure your picture does not do you justice. If it does, stay out of my neighborhood. Motor on!

Trace the vacuum line back to it's source, and cap it off there.

That would eliminate the possibility of the unused vacuum line developing a leak, anywhere along it's entire length, in the future.

so you can just take this whole line out with no ill effects?

I just swapped headers and the passenger side AIR hose doesnt reach. I was wondering what i was going to do about it, but if the whole thing can go away.....

If you eliminate the AIR system you will need to tune it out (and all related codeds) of the ECU to keep the CEL from coming on. It heats the cats faster on starts mostly to make them burn hotter and cleaner to lower emmissions at startup/idle.

Its kind of a pain in the A to remove, you need to take off the intake manifold and the pump out of the bumper. You will also need some Block plates for your headers (cheap on line if you search)

I assume you removed the manifold just to remove the check valve and tubing back there? It should be able to be abandoned in place and then removed if you ever needed to remove the manifold in the future. Of course removing it should lower your ET, just not sure you could tell by the seat of your pants.

Nope, my car had been tuned previously so that may have been part of it but I did the same with my dads 02 z and he never had codes for it either and he went about three months before having it tuned. My car is also an 02 z as well.

I only saw 3 codes in my FSM related to this system. P0410, 412, and 418.
