Has anyone experienced a column lock on the 02 MN6? I have 5500 miles on mine and have not experienced the problem. With the attention this issue has gotten on this forum it would seem that GM would have resolved the problem on the MN6 as they apparently have on the A4 (by eliminating the CL). If I don't need it I hesitate to buy and install the CLB.

Re: Column Lock on 02 MN6? (HBJ)
There have been a few reported here lately. I took the bypass out of our 1998 before we traded it for the 2002 Z06 where it is installed now, no use in taking a chance at all.

Re: Column Lock on 02 MN6? (Mark S.)
I too was concerned about this (until I did the CLB)....
I could not find an actual documented case of CL on an '02, but there are plenty on the '01's and GM did nothing different from '01 to '02....
Get the CLB from COH. A 20 minute install with a torx bit and a screwdriver.
Mike, do you still have the "rip out" the dash panels, etc. to install the CLB?
I ordered one over a year ago and unfortunately it's still sitting in one my drawers collecting dust. I watched a local club member install it in his Z06 and I just didn't have the nerve to remove the panels, etc. Too bad, they can't make it an easy install.
There is a detailed, step-by-step, comprehensive tutorial with many pictures at the link below. Do not fear - it is very straightfoward. The site below is the best instruction set I've seen anywhere.
Ed, I've seen the instructions and I've seen it installed in person...but it still gives me the "*******." I think I will ask for some assistance in installing it.
