I've read the review on the transgo shift kit but still don't understand exactly what it does for an automatic. Will it increase my hp or 1/4 times? As of this moment I don't have a torque converter but I'm planning on either a Vig. 2600-3000 in a few months. Will the shift kit still be as functional?
Thanks
What is the difference between an A4 and MN6? And what is the point of spending money on something that only makes you feel like you are going faster? I can put my rag down and do that.
Buckmaster nailed it! I also agree that it will not be something that you regret. I woudl look for an improvement in 1/4 mile times due to the no lagging during shifts!
Good Luck and let me know if you need any help. We stock and install Transgo shift kits. :)
Is it a good mod to do when they are installing a TC? And will it hurt your trans at all????
Yup, but you can really do it any time. There is no coninciding work associated with either mod really...
If you trans is in good shape, it will add life to your tranny. If your tranny is struggling, it sill send it to its grave quicker. :)
Basically, check your dipstick. Is the fluid brown? Does it smell burnt? If not, you are most likely good to go. :)

Re: Transgo Shift Kit???? (vstella)
Guys,
don't expect to see improved track times with just the shift kit, it is a great mod but I have not seen one single case where it actually gave you a better time at the track.

at around 300 installed why is this such a great mod if it doesn't inprove your times  Is this similar to the Hypertech shift firmness option which doesn't improve your times either
The point is ...without the Transgo shift kit your car will shift like a sloppy slushbucket compared to those that have the shift kit installed. If you were here I would give you a WOT demonstration....THEN you will understand!:D
On the other hand if you are satisfied with the shifts in your car...don't even think about it ever again...you don't know what your missing:D

While I can appreciate firmer shifts if it doesn't increase performance how is it a must have? Granted a converter will work wonders but is the transgo basically for feel to make it seem firmer ? in a non aftermarket TC car the transgo is basically for feel sought of like the hypertech poopie firmness increase.
I will repeat myself for the benefit of those who have never ridden in or driven a Corvette A4 WITH a Transgo shift kit. If your happy with the shift pattern of your stock vette,EVEN with a programmer( Hypertech,Powerloader, Superchips, Ed Wright(fastchips)...etc.) Then this conversation is moot. You don't know what you are missing and you never will..The Transgo is a waste of money and you really need to go to another mod for gratification..
BUT...if you believe there is a better way than you need to experience a Transgo installation on your car! There ISa difference! :D

Vstella I have never ridden in a car with one, so I am playing devils advocate a bit here trying to get more of a feel for why they are loved so much and what exactly this pronounced difference you speak of is. :hat Under full throttle does it give a nice strong chirp or break the tires lose ? It doesn't shift quicker of keep the revs up cause if it did then times would go down as well, so basically you are saying that it just gives the impression of a quicker shift by making it firmer and more abrupt feeling?
Under full throttle does it give a nice strong chirp or break the tires lose ? 7/15/2002]
Breaking the tires in the 1-2 shift is a given with ANY kind of power. I'm talkin about lightning quick shifts....holding the shift (in any gear) to redline and the 2-3 shift will put you in the trunk ALL the time at WOT. In cruise you will experience quick durable shifts that take advantage of the rpms. The stock shift pattern pales by comparison.

Ok let me rephrase what I meant is would the transgo cause them to break lose on a stock car. What you jsut said is what I thought it did quick shifts and snappy as well which is why I am surprised it doesnt improve 1/4 time
and you answered my next question which was going to be is it "rough" all the time though or only when you nail it. So it definately sounds like a nice mod but I am just surprised that by itself it wouldnt improve performance even a slight bit. :chevy
