I can buy gears for 3-400. Thats why I'm asking about just swapping gears or the whole differential.
You do know that you have to have a Kent/Moore set up tool and all the different size shims to install a new ring and pinion?? You cant do it properly without the tool..

Now I understand why everyone just swaps differentials. Thank you.

Some of the early production 2001 (coupe or Z06) had 1 rib differentials. Later units had 3 ribs.

The 2 series case is different. If you look carefully, the sensor is offset to pass side compared to the 3 series case. This is the reason you don't have speed sensor signal.
Thanks for the plug Bill!

I use RKT56 for my differential needs. Rick Kim is a trans/differential expert!
Was going to say the same about the sensor. You are kind of hosed there.
Going through the diff to do posi plates, Belleville springs and seals is really pretty easy. Fun actually!
I bought an 03 unit with 140k miles on it. Was well maintained be the prev owner. Still dirty inside from clutch material caused by a broken belleville spring.
I added the better output shafts as well. It now works perfect!
Those posts Bill referenced are excellent btw. Print them and have at it!
