Hello again.
I would like to go on a trip this summer to Europe.
Just in case I want to purchase a spare wheel.
At junkyards most popular spare wheel with PCD 5*120.65 is from Chevrolet Camaro before 2002. Does it normaly fits to Vette's brake disk?
I don't know about a Camaro wheel, but I do know that many use the spare tire that comes with the GTO. It fits in the large rear storage area and bolts right up.
I am almost sure that Camaro wheel will fit just fine. I would just contact a wheel manufacturer or seller like Tire Rack and get the dimensions. Plenty of wheel dimension info on the web. Many similar year Camaro wheels are stated as fitting the C5.
Also you could just go to a junkyard and do your own dimension comparison?
PS: Did you ever get your new passenger seat powered up?

I believe he is referring to a "donut" spare tire. OP if you are stay away from a donut the GTO will me much much better.
I still have a spare from one of my 4th Gen Camaros. The only problem with it is that it seems to be a little small. If it was used on the rear, I would be afraid of differential problems...What is the diamater of the GTO spare?
The GTO spare tire is a 145/70r17 ~25" tall and works great as a spare or budget front runners at the dragstrip. The hole for the hub does have to be enlarged slightly to clear, hope that helps.
Ok. Thank you. But here in Russia I can't find donut wheel from GTO.
I found only something like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/93-02-Pontiac-Firebird-Trans-Am-Chevrolet-Camaro-OEM-Compact-Spare-Wheel-Tire-/310862741188?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Wheel_Packages&hash=item4860dcfec4&vxp=mtr
Does it normaly fits to front brakes? Or I need to order GTO donut from USA only?

the one above is a 16 inch rim and I dont believe will clear the front brakes. If you get that through Ebay in Russia why cant you get the following through Ebay:

The GTO was produced and called the "Holden Monaro" in Australia and Europe, and the "Chevrolet Lumina" in Africa and Asia. Try searching for spare tires from those cars and you might find one near you.
Make sure you buy a spare tire from a 2001-2006 car. Both the Monaro and Lumina name were used for other cars prior to 2001 that had spare tires that would definitely not fit a Corvette.
Also, a 5 X 120mm bolt pattern wheel will physically fit on a Corvette.
Its not recommended to run that size, as its A BIT too small, but for a spare, it could work. That's a common size for BMWs, so a BMW wheel that's 17" or larger could potentially work as well.
- Am I correct in thinking that you will match the rear tire diameter and not be concerned if used in the front and taller that the other front.
- What did you search on Tire Rack that gave you tires to consider.
- Have you mounted the tire on the car (front & rear) and confirmed that it fits as desired.
I have a 2002 Z06 that I am exploring this option as some extra insurance as I drive to and from track days in S Cal.
Thanks for the work you have done,
Ed
Update to the wheel... the place I ordered it from sent me an e-mail this evening saying:
"The status of your order has changed and we wanted to keep you up to date. Thank you for your order. Unfortunately, Part # 92156731 is no longer available through GM. We apologize for the inconvenience. Your order will be cancelled and a refund will be issued."
That said, on the top right of the Tire Rack site there's a search box. I just typed "spare" in to that and a few options popped up. I ended up ordering the T135/90R-17 Kumho Spare Tire T121 for my '02 C5. The diameter was almost exactly the same as the BFG's I have now (or at least close enough for emergency use). I'll update with pictures and such when I mount it up, but I'm out of the country until late spring...
I had the same thought... I haven't been using run flats since '03 (including the two years I had the car in Europe) and have started feeling like my luck is going to run out eventually...
I'll update if I find a wheel other than on Ebay...

Ok, thanks for the update. I will do some searching around as well.
OK, what do you guys carry to do a tire change? What jack? I've had my 2000 for a few years and built a set of ramps to get it high enough for oil changes (just barely). The lack of a spare is what's kept me from taking mine on any trips, plus I usually ride a moto. But I'd like to use it for some upcoming road trips.
But I may have a handle on a couple GTO spares locally, I'll know later today. I had never thought about a temp spare from another vehicle before, thanks for the idea!
