So I had to take my shifter apart to grind off the head of the bolt that was stripped .
Anyway, I am trying to reassemble and I am having a tough time getting it back together correctly. The centering springs keep binding after I get the top part torqued back down. I can shift front and back but not side to side.
I must be putting it together wrong, anyone have a picture? It's just two springs, one each side, that sit underneath the shifter. There was a button part that I didn't know if it went top or bottom of the spring? I swore it was on the base of the spring and not the top, but I am not sure. As I tighten down the top, I see the spring bend inward and I can see that is why it is binding. Is there a special way to get the top back on?
There is so much grease in there, it's hard to tell. Perhaps I should clean it first.
