I am thinking of bypassing the VATS on my car. In a design where things are conveniently wired using connectors, I dont really want want to start cutting wires, thus making permanent changes. I would like to buy a mating connector, a resistor, and connect this to the the cable that comes out of the dash and connects to the ignition switch. Does anyone know part number for this connector - preferr the mfg p/n (Packard?), not GM?
Its a two wire connector. Just find the correct value resistor. Use a hammer and tap the end of the resistor leads flat. Same thickness as the male pins in the connector. Insert the flattened leads into the female connector pins. Tape up the resistor and the connector. You're done..

Thanks, I will give it a try - Iwould have expected a round pin connector.

Unplug the two, isolating the key end from the BCM end and skin the wire back, wrap the resistor leads around the skinned wire, verify it starts with that resistor and then solder and heatshrink or tape it up.
My next trick will be to access this VATS connector comming off the ign sw. Do I really have to remove the padded knee panel? I seem to recall a very detailed procedure for accessing this connector but can't seem to find the link. Any help?
