I've heard some talk about the need to get shorter pushrods when doing a motor freshen up when installing the ls7 cadi lifters............can anyone shed any light on this?
Measure your lifter preload, should be .040-.070". I used them in my build and did use shorter pushrods after measuring. I am using a tsp 228r cam with stock head gaskets.
LS7 lifters are the standard one for one replacement for the original LS1 lifter. No pushrod length change required on a stock car. The Caddy lifters are different than the LS7 lifters. Not exactly sure what you are doing, is this a stock rebuild?
LS7 lifters are NOT "caddi" lifters.
I would def not get them mixed up as they are quite a bit different.
The LS6 cam effects the pushrod length as it has a smaller base circle than most of the other cams at .050 shorter, so you would need a longer PR to deal with that, but the LS7 lifters will take a std 7.400 replacement pushrod if all you are doing is a lifter change.
Otherwise, it is always best to measure.
We have the set of LS7 lifters ready to go HERE for 99.95
If you want other HD lifter recommendations, we can do that as well and still keep them under $200 for the set and you will never have to worry about them even with some of the most aggressive cams out there.
