Hello,
Everytime I remove key from ignition, mirrors and driver's seat are moving back to original position. It's so annoying everytime I need to move mirrors and seat back to what I want to. I tried to google for possible solutions but in my case there are no Seat Memory options below seat or on the door.

Should have a memory button on the door panel.

There are no memory buttons on door?? Memory 1 and Memory 2. You set things how you want them then
hold 1 or 2 until light flashes. It also remembers the keys. If one driver sets it up and then you use their key seats and everything will move to where they set it. Every time. Even if you adjust it where you want it, it will go back to settings for that key. Unless of course you hold down a memory button and reprogram settings for that key.

 

Look in 2-8

MEMORY can store and recall the settings for the
driver’s seat position, the outside rearview mirror
positions, telescopic steering column (if equipped),
radio presets, tone, volume, playback mode (AM/FM,
tape or CD), last displayed station, compact disc position
and tape direction and the last climate control setting.
The MEMORY buttons are located on the driver’s
door, above the power mirror controls. The MEMORY
buttons can store and recall settings for up to three
drivers. Use button 1 to store the settings for the first
driver, button 2 for a second driver or press buttons
1 and 2 at the same time for a third driver. To store
your memory settings:
1. Adjust your settings for the driver’s seat position,
outside rearview mirror positions, and telescopic
steering wheel (if equipped).
2. Press and hold a MEMORY button. The light
above the MEMORY button will glow steady for
one second and then flash once when the settings
are complete. Then the light will go off.
3. Set the climate control temperature, fan speed and
mode settings, radio presets, tone, volume, playback
mode (AM/FM, tape or CD), tape direction and
compact disc position.
Your memory settings are now programmed.
Any changes that are made to the audio system and
climate controls while driving will be automatically
stored when the ignition key is turned off.


When first entering your vehicle, after pressing the
unlock button on your remote keyless entry transmitter
or a MEMORY button, a recall of your settings will
occur when the door is closed and the ignition key is in
the ignition switch. As the memory settings are recalled,
the light above the button will flash until the correct
settings are achieved, then glow for five seconds
when complete.
A memory recall can be stopped by pressing any
memory seat, mirror or steering column position button.
Drivers 1, 2 and 3 correspond to the order in which your
remote keyless entry transmitters were programmed.

Memory recall will not work if the vehicle is moving.
Memory recall will be temporarily interrupted during
engine crank.
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System
Your vehicle has a Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system
that allows you to lock and unlock your doors, unlock
your hatch/trunk lid, turn the panic alarm on and off and
disarm or arm your theft-deterrent system. The range
distance is as much as 100 feet (30 m) away.
Your vehicle comes
standard with two
transmitters, and up to
three can be matched
to your vehicle.

I got my car recently and first made sure my key fob was set to fob #1... then get all your settings how you like it, and hold the 1 button on the driver door to save your settings to #1 memory. Press button 1 to return to those saved settings, or hold 1 again to save any changes etc.

 

If I understand what the OP is saying, he does not have the Memory option. Memory is an option.

 

I agree that could explain it if he had the Memory option. The OM says it is only a feature with Memory but maybe some one replaced the door switch and he actually does have that feature? We'll have to wait for his comment on this and see if your suggestion works.

There are no Seat Memory buttons that (maybie) should be on driver's door.

I'll try to play with this Easy Entry thing and see what happens.

 

I have a similar problem on my '99 FRC. My seat moves up vertically and forward when I put the key in. Tries the crunch me every time. Problem is the car doesn't have the memory option installed according to the tag in the glove box and the fact of the missing memory button on the driver's door. Anyone have any clues to what might be going on?

Maybe your BCM was replaced and set with the RPO for memory recall. That would likely make it use a default memory setting. I'd have to check the service manual tonight and see if that is one of the RPO options that can be set in the BCM. Overall, something was likely replaced so you either lost the memory buttons or the car gained the memory function without having the buttons.

Mine recalls the memory settings when I unlock the door and put the key in the ignition, not when I get out of the car.

 

Is there a way to clear the memory option without the memory buttons? I'm guessing my car (recently bought) has probably gained a memory option because mine moves every time I unlock the door and insert the key.

 

The MEMORY Module in the seat thinks it has memory. The BCM tells the seat to go to the last memory setting. You could remove the serial data wire from the seat control connector and see if it quits.

You can also pull the door panel off and see if you have the wires in the connector for the memory switch. Like it was stated previously, someone may have installed a non memory door function switch panel.

When I get home, later tonight I will look through my ESI and see which wires you will need to look at.

 

I like Bill's idea to remove the serial bus wire. This can be done either at the seat or at the Star connector in the passenger foot well area which might be easier to access. If you want to go down this road we can provide you all the info on how to remove the connection (at either location) instead of just cutting the wire.

 

The mirror will still move though and if you cut that serial link then the left side door controls won't be able to operate the right side window or mirror.

It'd be better to figure out what is actually happening rather than hacking a partial fix to it.

 

FYI, I just took a look and the BCM does have a setting for the memory options so it's likely the BCM was replaced and was just programmed wrong.

 

If it were me I would just remove the serial bus wire to the SCM by just removing the pin from the Star connector. Simple and no wire is cut. It would mean having to reposition the mirror but not anything else. If it is the BCM they can reinsert the pin and verify function.

Having everything move would drive me crazy since I HATE all the non essential crap in the C5.
