Any harm in a 160 degree stat?

It used to be easy and fairly inexpensive to gain significant HP increases, but I've seen too many people who've spent over $1000 to gain 4 HP to ever go for such stuff. Even Dyno runs can be deceptive, since variability of peak HP runs can often be sizable (10HP from 1st to 2nd runs in my case) for no apparent reason.
1st Day HP/TQ 291/293 297/323 296/310
2nd Day (a year later) HP/TQ 298/302 292/298 295/301

Oh yeah, by the way, this was without the Blackwing, power duct, and MAF screen removal listed in my sig. I am going to do the MAF translator (probably my last mod) and get it dynoed again this Thursday and see what I come up with. I'm going to be pretty irritated if I don't break 300 hp this time around..!!! :yesnod: :yesnod:

On average, my LT1 only runs about 10 - 12 degrees cooler using the 160 tstat. Granted I use fans on at 213 off at 205, because the lower settings make the fans run continuously. Oil temps get up to the usual ~212 range as with the 180 tstat so crank case moisture boil-off is not reduced w/ the 160 vs. the 180, not in my sled at least. My instant mileage and avg mileage have stayed the same. Because although it runs 10 - 12 F cooler, the temp no longer climbs to 230 in traffic like the stock GM programming let it. What I am getting at it is that the heat range fluctuation is slightly reduced from the stock condition. Stock condition in city driving: 205 - 230 degrees range = 25 F routine temp fluctuation. 160 condition w/ fans programmed as above: 194 - 212 degrees = 18 degrees fluctuation.
Based on these numbers I am seeing with my car, I cannot see how the 160 can make any long term negative impact on engine longevity. Granted I don't run the fans as aggressively as some do, but then I don't want them running continously. I tried a fans on/off setting of 185/176 and they ran all the time which I didn't care for-- wear them out faster and also the alternator.
