Hi people,
Does anyone know anything about the cd players? I am getting an err msg. on the radio so I went to pull the cartridge to check the cd's and now the cartridge won't come out...
anybody have any Ideas? need help please...
thanks, Joe
Not sure what the error message will mean as far as the basic problem. However, if I remember, there is a small hole like you have on a computer CD/DVD drive that if you use a paperclip, it should release the cartridge. I believe I had to do that to release mine.
My CD changer did not work so I just decided to replace it with an iPod adapter and got an iPod. Much easier to select songs and anyone with a player can plug in with their songs. I already has a stash of songs on the computer I just transferred to the iPod.
If what's already suggested fail and you can't still eject the magazine, try this:
Remove the changer from your car and open its cover. You will see that it is basically divided in 2 areas placed side-by-side, one to accommodate the magazine and another one where the selected disc gets extracted to and played.
Below the area that holds the loaded magazine, approximately centered with respect to it and opposite the loading door, there is a white plastic lever. If you action that lever it will unlock the magazine. Just be careful because one of the trays or CDs might be stuck half way between the magazine and the playing area, preventing you from freely pulling the magazine.
Be gentle and you should have no problem. Hope this helps!
thanks for the info. Guys, as soon as I get a chance I will get into it again and see what develops...
will let you know what I find...
does this indicate that the changer is dead or just had a hiccup?
thanks again...
Well, here's what I did... I couldn't get the cartridge out no how so I did unplug and take the unit out and took it apart... I saw a plug that seemed to be for the door switch... I was going to, unplug it but when I touched it, it was so lose it seemed to almost fall out by itself.... I plugged it back in, plugged the power back in, closed the door, heard it start cycling, opened the door and the cartridge popped right out.... I put the cartridge back in, put the player back in, hooked everything back up and is now working fine... hope it stays that way... thanks for all the good Ideas guys

There is also a little reset button on the top of the unit that you press with a paper clip or ball point pen. I'm not sure if that will help you out or not.

Had a problem w/changer not responding to the Aux button on head unit, tried the usual load/reload, etc. Then looked it up on the Forum, and the reset button did the trick. Thanks, once again the Forum members helped me.
Like Sam said, for $75 you can get...
Peripheral PXDP PXHGM2 Chevrolet Corvette 97-04 iPod Adapter
Throw in a couple of Kicker plug and play upgraded speakers for about $80 http://shop.doubledmods.com/C5-Corve...ages_c1541.htm
Then get you a 30 Bluetooth Receiver from Bestbuy and you can play some nice quality tunes with your Smart phone thru your completely STOCK looking stereo... you can still play CD's in your head unit.
