So, both key fob batteries were dead, so replaced. Reprogrammed both and both will lock and unlock the doors. However, after a short period the horn will beep every 10 - 15 seconds. I did try the solder trick and did the points as shown in the fix - still beeps. Only way to stop it is to take the batteries out of the fob.
Any help, suggestions appreciated. It is a 1999 with the original fobs.

OOOMMMGGG It worked both my fobs were freaking out. The batties went dead last october, november. Car was down for repairs. About a two weeks ago replaced batteries om both fobs and by pass was doing wath you decribed. But tried your method of switching on off, on off several times and both work now. Thank you 8vette7:w illy::thumbs :
Sounds like the legendary "passive" feature is causing the problem. Have you tried taking the fob completely apart and cleaning the pocket lint from around the passive button? Also sliding the passive button back and forth a few dozen times sometimes helps.
GM stopped making that function in 2000 because it was such a POS.
Thanks. Have not had a chance to try this yet but will ASAP. Will post results.
