Shifting Issues.
I have a 2003 Anniversary vette.
If the car has been siting more than a couple of hours I am unable to shift into first or reverse unless I move the shifter around for about 20 - 30 seconds then it will go into any gear. It occurs only after it is sitting. Help
Forgot to mention that I changed the trans fluid, did not help.

When was the last time you changed out the clutch fluid?

I purchased the car a couple of months ago with 75K miles so I don't know if it was ever changed. Is it an expensive issue?

Shifter alignment. You may need shifter housing bushings.

Besides adjusting the linkage, you can also try flushing the clutch fluid using the ranger method. This link has a lot of good information.

Is it the stock shifter?
Cold: Put the shifter to the left, release, does it center? Do the same thing to the right.
Warm: Repeat the tests?
If it doesn't center automatically warm, then adjust the shifter. If it does center cold, your adjustment is fine.
If it's an aftermarket with springs and doesn't center warm, adjust the shifter.

I bough the car in April and it had 75,000 miles on it. I don't know what th previous owner did. Could that be it?
