Default Key fob receiver bad?

Posting this question for my roommates C5.

Key fob has been tested out at an auto parts store and works fine but when you reprogram the fob to the car it will unlock and lock the car once and it wont work again until you reprogram it.

My first thought is the receiver behind the drivers seat but I wanted to double check before I bought one and tried to install it. No issues with TPS.

If the tire pressure sensors read, you can eliminate the receiver. What you describe is a very common problem with the older fobs. Read the thread provided by 8vette7. You may have to replace the fobs or update the system to the newer style fobs and tpms sensors.

Default Fobs

i have a 98 vert that had the same problem u sync them today tomorrow they r out of sync. Did the solder thing didnt help me. Also pulled the receiver and had the antenna resoldered also. Still didnt help. Even bought 1 new fob from the dealer no better.

Got pissed off as i wasn't going to buy a receiver for like 200 dollars or more. So i went and spent less the 175.00 on a NEW after market system works great every day no hassles. I left the original receiver in place and my TPS system works great also.

Good luck finding the problem.

I have 1 passive fob and 1 NEW replacement i bought from chevy earlier this year if you need some i'm willing to sell both send a PM if your interested.
