Default Intake Manifolds....

Anyone else rather puzzled why there are really no options for intake manifold upgrades- especially ones that will fit under the cowl and hood without hacking them up? I mean, the FAST intakes are, at best, a marginal upgrade for built engines....

Harrop makes a nice unit - pricey, but nice.

Hmmmmmmm,,,, FAST 90, FAST 92 both fit. Seen some used ones that fit without issue. What more do you expect from an intake manifold????

What heads cam package do you have that can out breath a FAST 92???

I have a FAST 90 that I home ported. You would be hard pressed to out flow that one. It fits without any problems!

I have a 403 LS2 with LS3 top end. The problem I have with the FAST intakes is you spend $1500 for MAYBE 20hp if anything. Nobody seems to have repeatable legit testing showing repeatable gains with the FAST.

The Harrop is nice, but at that price I could just get a custom sheetmetal intake made that would crush it.

I mean, there are several other options for non-Corvette LSx engines-
- Holley Hi-Ram
- Holley Mid-Ram
- Edelbrock Vic and Vic Jr
- Edelbrock Pro-FLo (which is junk)
- FAST truck manifold (which is waaaay better than the car intake)

Because the way to go these days are Superchagers. Teamed with a Fast intake, theres no need for anything crazy that needs a cowl, and individual throttle bodies are obsolete that that point.

I wonder if the Edelbrock Vic Jr with an elbow on top would fit under a C5 hood....

It seems to me that it just shows how well designed the stock manifold is.

No fitment issues with my FAST 92 / LS2 TB install.
I did it in my garage easily.
First time I ever touched my motor myself too.

I didn't think the FAST 90s were a problem. The FAST 102 were the ones I heard were a problem. The LS6 intake is a really good piece of engineering. It flows well straight out of the box and works fine on modified engines.

Torque,

What mods had you done prior to the intake and TB install? Just wondering if there are similar HP/Tq gains with the stock Z06 cam and heads (already have long tube headers)?

Here are all my Dyno's since when I got it new in 2004 with details on each mod installed.

Click on the link below if CF shrinks the picture too small.

I am running a ported Fast 102 on my 414'CI Stroker... Fitment was/is perfect... No changing out motor mounts or cutting under the cowl... There are always the Sheet metal intakes @ $2500...

It is a lot of money for little return. If I found one cheap Id run it, but much more simple to just up the boost.

BTW, was up your way for Division Review and AA wk last month. Got to march with the old timers, including 4 who jumped into Normandy. I was C 2/504 80-83

You would have to cut the cowl out and get a BIIIG cowl hood to get it to fit- it is a shame since that is the only FAST with real gains
