No. The H pipe section is to be cut off, using precise measurements, with a chain pipe cutter. Then the x pipe section slips over the pipes coming from the cats is clamped using the provided hardware. Take a look at the instruction sheet. – C.
When I installed the Corsa X-pipe I had to grind down the existing exhaust pipe where I cut it with chain cutters to smooth the burrs around the cut. I ALSO had to use an exhaust pipe expander to slightly expand the Corsa X-pipe before I could slip it over the cut pipe. By "flaring" I'm assuming that the dealer just meant that he had to expand the opening slightly to gtet it to fit -- but why would the dealer call you about something that trivial??
I did the work myself (without assistance) in my garage with the rear end of my vette on a car jack -- I took a day because I didn't have any help, it was crampede quarters underneath, and I had to go out and buy the exhaust pipe expander. When I got done it was worth it.
