Default Problem with door controls:

Drivers door controls panel sometimes does not work (whole thing: locks, windows, etc.). I cleaned the contacts on the connectors in the door jam area, and that worked for a month or so, but now it is intermittent. I can slightly push rubber accordion cover in door jam and it will work, close door and doesnt work again.

I am thinking of just adding extensions to all the wires and removing the connectors. It would give the wires more length so wouldn't pull when door is open/closed, and no connectors to get corroded etc.

Thoughts?

Yes, read that when I first had the issue, and lead me to cleaning the connectors.

I understand the clear wire is for the speaker, but is the whole con. for the speaker, and I only need to focus on other con?

I guess I wont remove con. since it grounds all wires together.
I will open and see if contacts are bent, but didn't notice any previously.

My harness was cut and it caused the problem. Id pull the harness and inspect it.

Cleaning the contacts isn’t going to solve the issue. The FEMALE PINs get spread apart and the male pins have a poor connection with the female pin. To solve your issue you need to:

Disconnect the battery, remove the pins from the connector (make a diagram of where each wire goes) and bend the toung in the female pin to make proper contact with the male pin.

OR

Find a stout dental pick or scribe and bend the toung while the pins remain in the connector. Its really difficult to do that way.

Once you have the female pins back in shape, it will most likely resolve your door issues.

When mine has this issue, it corrupts the serial data line and the engine goes into reduced power.

Thanks.

I fixed the issue, hopefully it will stay fixed or I will have to do as suggested. I found that the black wire on male side was kind of loose. I put a wire tie around the whole connector to hold it tight, and press wire in. What a PIA trying to get wires pulled out and working in small space, then trying to stuff the connectors back in the body and keep it working!

If I have to replace any contacts, how are you having enough space and dexterity to do it, when the wires hardly have and slack, and cramed up in jam?

If I have to go to that extent, I will add extensions to all wires and attach a new connector.

Can I access the connector by just pushing back the accordion tube in the door jamb area or do I have to remove parts of the door panel?

And you may have to pull a lot harder than you think to get them out. This bothered me, because I felt as though I would do more damage.

I pop both sides out, and once the connectors are disconnected, you can pull off the entire thing and get the tube out of the way. It pops off and on easy.

Very simple solution ....
Close the door...

(wonder why no one mentioned that)
