Default Filled 6.0 motor ???????????

I'm kinda in the market for a built 6.0 motor ready for boost and I've come across a shortblock that's 1/2 filled and packed with A compstar crank, rods, and diamond pistons. I've seen guys with 6.0 motors that run hot so I'm leaning towards passing on the opportunity to pick up this shortblock.

Does anybody have any experience with daily driving a 1/2 filled 6.0 motor thru the 90* days of the summer? The biggest plus is its pretapped for 1/2 inch head studs. I'll be able to pour the boost on, but I'm skeptical .

What is half filled? I ran my 408 motor everyday with no heating issues. 6.0l iron block with 4 inch crank.

There's a liquid that you pour into the motor. I believe it goes into the coolant passages. It makes the block stronger and lessens the likelihood of cylinders moving under power. Or so I've read, I'm never filled a block, I've always had an aftermarket block to start with.

I would pass, if really pushing it you will probably experience heat issues before block failure. I have ony heard this being done on max effort older style engines.

I don't mean to thread jack you but I'm curious, I thought block fillers were cement-based or epoxy?? There is a liquid filler & it works?

Engine builder have used it for decades to half fill the water jackets in old sbc motors to put longer stroke cranks by cutting into the water jackets.

I'll pass on that purchase. 3k is just so tempting but I know I'll be kicking myself when it runs hot and I can't street drive it.

No way would I try to run that on the street, especially if you have AC.. Iron blocks run hot enough as it is. It would be worse filled.. Block is probably cracked and they band aided it with fill.

Considering you can get a nice short block from TSP for $3500.. Or a 390 from AES for $3900.. I'd keep shopping.

I'm very familiar w/ the cement & epoxy hard set fillers. I just have never heard of a liquid filler, am curious as to how that would work & what the benefits would be or why to use w/ liquid vs solid filler.
Is new or not been out long?

Wouldn't you think that wether cement or epoxy based it would pour in as a liquid? Even if it's thick, it's still technically a liquid.

I agree wit the others. Too much work to find out after the fact that the car won't run cool.

I am sure the block is filled with exactly what you're talking about. I only referred to it as a liquid because that's the state that I figured it was in when poured into the coolant passages. I am sure it is nothing new

Cool. There's a guy local with a 1/2 filled 6.0 shortblock built for boost. I've been leaning towards AES and their $4300 shortblock. I'm going to wait until February or March to pull the trigger from AES.
