I have a 2002 Z06 with 28k miles. Have had very few problems so far other than a couple batteries and a steeing column bypass. After returning from Carlisle, each time I have driven the car the fuel mileage readout has reset without me re-setting it. Anyone have this happen?
If the battery buss drops LOW durring cranking (especially cold cranking), it resets everything with a memory AND it also sets your emissions not ready flags.
If you had to get an emissions test, it probably wouldnt be ready to pass the test.
Have your battery fully tested and see how its holding up.
A new battery has plenty of available voltage & current. As a battery ages, its ability to output that same voltage and current diminishes. Voltage is inversely proportional to current. When your STARTER sucks up 250-300 AMPS on first starter hit, the battery voltage will drop low.
Usually around 10-11 VDC. If the battery is aged, Ive see it drop as low as 9VDC or less (just for a second or so.)
If the voltage drops below a modules low voltage cut off threshold, it will stop working until it regains adequate voltage.
You can sort of test your battery your self. Have some one cold start your engine while you read directly on the battery terminals with a hand held volt meter. See how far it drops down on first hit of the starter.
