Have a C1255 code...is vehicle safe to operate with code..Every thing appears to be fine except DIC readouts. I know abs, traction control, active are not functional when lite up.
C1255, Internal EBCM malfunction, is pretty much the kiss of death for the EBCM. Are there any other codes that are recoreded?? In a few instances i have seen that bad battery or loose or corroded battery cables can cause this code but there are usually other coded recorded. Especially RDCM and/or LDCM codes.
If the EBCM is actually failed, then as long as you accept the fact that there will be NO ABS, TC or AH and drive accordingly, the car can be safely driven.
Does the H after the code mean that the problem no longer exists?
Turn the ignition ON and read all the fuses related to the EBTCM to ground. There are two TEST POINTS on top of each fuse. Measure each test point to chassis ground and see what you get.
Should be very close to actual battery terminal voltage read on the battery terminals.
You could be having a LOW VOLTAGE issue during cold cranking that causes the EBTCM to error out and have a memory failure.
What shape is your battery in and how old is it??
Read the battery terminal voltage while you have an assistant crank the engine. How low does the battery voltage drop at cold start??
