The left rear directionals on my '98 coupe quit working a couple of days ago. The front left directional will flash very fast. The tailights, stop lights, right directionals, and all flashers work normally. I didn't think it was the bulbs but I replaced them with no change. Any suggestions?
I need to know if you put the "hazards" ON, do the left rears flash?
If they do work, then while they are "hazard" flashing turn the left turn signal Multifunction switch to the left turn signal position and tell me if they stop flashing or not.

All the taillights flash when the flashers are on. When I turn on the left directionals, the left rear side quits and the right side stays flashing.
Your Multifunction switch is bad. Tried to post some removal and possible repair info but this site is kinda hosed up right now. Tried twice with no luck.
Will try again tomorrow. I can also explain better if you want o discuss on the phone. If so, just PM me with your number.
Thanks for the response. I came to the same conclusion after running through the diagnostic chart in my repair manual. I have to decide if I should try to repair the switch or just order a new one.

Personally I would recommend replacement. The R&R procedure is not really that bad at all. You will however, need a 1/4" drive socket set and some Torx bits to use for a couple of the fasteners, in addition to other normal hand tools.
Steering wheel does NOT have to come off, nor do any of the airbag components get messed with. I didn't even disconnect the battery; just made SURE the key was never put in the ignition until the new switch was in place. Put on your "be patient" hat and you'll be fine.
Btw, do NOT jack with the little tilt lever. It's a zillion times easier to remove it than re-install it, and it isn't really necessary to remove anyway. Don't ask me how I know this.

Thanks, I ordered new switch. I'll reply when I have it installed.
