Went out to the garage this morning and heard the blower motor going. I couldn't get it to stop, so I pulled the maxi-fuse. The battery was too dead to start the car, so I have it on a charger. If anyone out there knows what the problem is I would appreciate the info before I have to take it in at noon.
If you have dual zone/auto a/c its most likely the blower motor controller. I'm pretty sure its located right next to the blower motor. The blower motor is located right behind the glovebox, just drop the plastic panel under the dash on the pass side and you can get right to it. Be careful, the metal case on the blower motor is hot so dont short it to ground. you can just unplug the motor to stop it until you can get to the dealer. If you are out of warranty you can change the controller but it may be other things causing it.
If you have manual a/c it could be a few things as well, if you are out of warranty we can go from there...

Could be the programmer as well (its a bank of vacuum switces and relays) but I would bet its the fan control module, if you arent comfortable doing this take it to the dealer :)
BTW, control module pn 52479971 - 140.00 list if you want to guess :)
Be very careful. I had same problem on my 1997C5 a couple years ago & dealer said I needed a $950.00 repair, a mass blower module or some such nonsense. Forum member who was C5 tech steered me to correct part which was $120.00 dollars. Problem is, the expensive fix won't correct problem with continuous blower running. In any event, if dealer says you need 900+ fix, email me back at dkeshel.aol.com and I will go through my old papers to get you correct part number etc. This is exact same problem I had. Rogue74
This problem happened to me about two weeks ago. Went in for service and found out there is a TSB #83-11-10 (-01/27/98) for this problem. I also have a 97 but have GMPP so it is warranty work. Part # they put in is 9356081. If you have a good dealer he might be able to help in that this is known problem. Good Luck
