Is it part of the pressure sensor? I can't find a reference to a oil temp sensor at the parts store.
This last week, after an hour drive, I stopped for gas. When I started the car after fueling, the oil temp spiked to 300+, then, settled back to <200.
It did it twice over the weekend. Oil level was on low side. It's time for an oil change, so, I'll do that and was looking to see if I have a faulty sensor or connection.
I think that I recall it being just above the oil filter. It wouldn't surprise me to see it spike up briefly right after you shut the engine off as there is no movement. The oil is just sitting there getting hot.
YEP! Its in the oil filter housing. Make sure that you check the wires and the connector for damage before you go replacing the sensor. May be just damaged wires or a bad connector.
