Default Intake alignment - milled heads?

Hi,
Working on my winter head cam exhaust swap on my C5. I have a set of LS6 heads that have been milled 0.055".

Someone mentioned that there were some modifications (grinding) required to make the stock LS6 intake work. Any pics or description from those who have done this?

Thanks a bunch!!!

If you had a pre-2001, there would be some pluming under the manifold that you would need to remove or reconfigure. Yours has NO pluming to worry about.

The only thing that the intake can contact would be the heads of the fasteners that secure the valve valley cover plate.

When the heads are reinstalled, set the intake manifold on the heads and see if it sets flat on the heads without rocking.. If everything is the way its suspose to be, you should not be able to rock, twist, or move it. The O ring gaskets should just about seal without the bolts. When you bolt it down, the O ring seals compress and the manifold flanges and head surface pretty much touch.

Remove the O rings and see if the manifold sits on the heads flush.

If there is sontact with anything, it will most likely be the valley cover bolt head. when you install a FAST Intake, it comes with low profile bolts for the cover. You can see them in the picture below:

In this picture, you can see how tall your cover bolts are. You can see two cover bolts in the picture:

I would think the bolts that hold the intake on may now be misaligned.
The ports might be misaligned too.

That's a lot of milling. Why so much?

You probably need two things... New heads and or another machine shop. Ive NEVER seen that much warp.
