Default Gauge removal

Hello, I want to know if I remove my volt gauge, for instance, will the DIC still display the information digitally, even though the physical gauge is gone? I am currently in the process of assessing if I can modify the cluster or not, and would need to remove a gauge if I did.

Thanks for all of the help,

Ty Kempf

The FSM does not have the detail to positively answer that question. Not sure what it takes to try and disconnect the voltmeter much less remove it. You could first disconnect it and see if the DIC will still display voltage.

If the DIC will not display voltage that would be very low or at the bottom of my list of things I need to see via the DIC.

I don't see why you couldn't.. Its just an indicator and it DOES NOT read BATTERY VOLTAGE!!!!

That gage and the digital reading show you the voltage that comes out of the IGNITION SWITCH. Most people who use a multimeter and actually read voltage directly on the battery will soon learn that there is a difference between the two readings.

Some C5 have a greater difference than others due to the condition of the contacts inside the ignition switch.

Why do you need to remove it and what will go into its place? Just curious?

Here are a couple of post for you that may help you get the job done:

The gage/s are connected to the IPC with a ribbon connector. Just remove the nuts, separate that cover and lift out that gage.
