Hey guys, I just recently did a cam and heads swap on my 03 base Vette. It has a mgw short throw shifter and a built 6-speed trans all done within the past 8 months. After tuning the new setup it made awesome power and everything was good.
When I got onto the highway and some Backroads though... Doing 2nd gear 40 roll and or 3rd gear 60 roll pulls the car would get stuck and almost like locked in neutral when I would go to speed shift it into the next gear. I would have to pull off the side of the road, shut it off, the clutch pedal I would have to pull back up off the floor and then it would shift through the gears like normal. Driving normally shifts fine, no problems at all. Seems perfect as always. Seeing as how the shifter assembly is almost new as well as tranny, I can't see that being the problem. Is it the fluids maybe? What should I look into and do?
The clutch sticking to the floor sounds like a common slave cylinder problem. Try looking for the "Ranger" method of changing the clutch fluid. Sometimes it helps.
Very common issue (clutch peddle stuck to the floor) after a HP/TQ increase. If you have stock worn GM slave, pressure plare and master cyl stuff, its pretty common.
If it were me, I would install a NEW MASTER Cyl and properly flush and bleed the entire hydraulic system and see if that resolves the issues. Other wise you are in for a LOT bigger repair.
Drain and fill the transmission with the correct ATF Trans fluid and see if that helps smooth out the shifts.
