I converted from perimeter valve covers to center bolt covers and need to figure out the parts needed to get the driver side pcv hose attached to new cover. I see a grommet (part number 10198949) is needed, are any other parts needed or does the hose just plug in the grommet. By looking at it, looks like there should also be a 90 degree elbow of some sort.
From what I can see in the parts diagram, the elbow is part of the hose assembly. Didn't your engine already have a hose with a 90 degree end on it? The parts diagram shows that it should.
You may need to check the parts at Autozone or somewhere for an elbow that will fit.

Correct, there is a 90 degree elbow there, see diagram below, item 1, upper end of PCV line is where you'll see the elbow. I just replaced this entire line - it had multiple areas that had deteriorated, holes, etc. Currently, GM only sells the entire line, you cannot just buy the elbow. I bought it from Gene at CULTRAG.
Thanks for the reply. I wonder if the 98' hose isn't different then. That might be on a 99+ car.
Mine is a 2002 by the way.
Are you original owner? Many threads on the forum where folks didn't want to spend the money on replacing the entire PCV line so they made do with non standard parts (eg regular fuel line, etc) - so is it possible a prior owner just cludged it up?
On my old line the elbow mates up to hard plastic tubing, not flexible fuel line, so it's hard elbow connected to hard tubing. You mention "hose" ... At that end of the PCV line do you have hard tubing or normal fuel line tubing? If the latter, that's a sign you don't currently have the standard part ... Unless the line varies significantly over the various years.
Forgot to mention, Gene Culley at CULTRAG sent me a parts diagram for my year Vette (the one I attached above is from my 2002 service manual). He can send you the diagram for your model year so you can tell for sure, including what parts are available through him - perhaps your right, that this is just model-year-unique in this area
Actually, I think I just fell on some good information and my (97-98) pcv system is different. It looks like it might be best for me just to change up my pcv system altogether. Wish I knew this before I put the top half of the motor back together uggghhh.
