Default No start help

Have a friend that has a C5 automatic that twice now has not been able to start car, when you turn the key nothing happens. Wait 5 minutes and system resets it self and works fine for awhile. Has anyone heard of this? It seems as if the alarm is reseting.

Sounds like a problem with a dirty key.

A short in the wiring can cause this. Mine had the cable under the console shorted when the fasteners were tightened and the car wouldn't start. The cup holder seemed to be the pressure point. When the wires were retaped and moved to the side, the shorting/ starting problem went away. Some hidden aluminum parts are very sharp and grounded so stressed wires can become shorted.

The problems continues, had the no start problem 5 times on the trip to Carlisle, Pa. The dealer made a new key, thinking that the key was bad before leaving. That didn't help. Anyone have any ideas.

I agree. You may need to head down this path.

scoaman,

Might be the theft deterrent relay, located in the passenger side footwell.

C-5 TECH helped another member a while back with a similar problem. With his help, I think the problem was traced to the aforementioned relay.

Good luck.
