I recently traded my Borla catbacks for a stock Ti exhaust. The Borlas, being in two pieces, were very easy to remove. Since the Ti's are one piece, I'll need to get my car a few feet in the air to install them and I'd rather not do the job on jackstands in the garage. I have a friend with a lift about 10 miles away. Question is, would it be OK to drive without any catback exhaust (e.g. just longtubes and catted x-pipe) for the 10 miles to get it up on the lift to install the Ti's? Other than it being really loud?
Yup you will be fine..It will be loud and maybe sound not as good but your not gonna burn valves if that's what your thinking. Can that even happen on modern cars these days?
The Ti's are very tame as I'm sure you are aware so if you ever want loud again but not loud/drone ALL the time like the borlas then some cutout will work well with those TI's
You'll be fine (at least from personal experience).
Before I bought my C5 off of my dad, he ran it without the cat-back for a month or so, and I saw no melting or severe damage. I think for a few days, you should be good, but it will be INCREDIBLY loud.
I did it for 6 months just to abuse my ears, scare people and experience the DRONE!
It will be loud and the DRONE will be NASTY! ENJOY!
Haha, yep!! Made the quick drive to the lift to put on the Ti's. I think I was a bit deaf when I got there! Loving the sound of the Ti's through the long tubes and x-pipe. And now I can actually hear the stereo and blowoff valve! And NO DRONE unlike the Borlas!
