I have a 2001. After a fast acceleration it appears that my brakes decide to act up and not work very well. When I'm pressing the pedal it feels like the pressure is gone some and the brake pedal clicks back at my foot. Im not stomping on the brake im doing a slow stop. It doesnt appear to do it when I have a slow acceleration though. Anyone else had a similar issue? Could it be my abs kicking in?
IF,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you are having a Active Handling Event OR an Anti Lock Braking Event,, you should see that message in the DIC. It will be there for a short period of time so when it happens.
LOOK at the DIC and see if there are any messages when the issue happens.
Well thought it might be a computer based issue, and I think I was right. I had unplugged my battery and then went and tested out some fast acceleration with quick braking and the brakes held up well. Guess I had a visit from gremlins.

Well I lied. Had a small incident with it earlier again today. Thouigh this time it was only after slowly moving. I have no idea what it could be. Anyone else have ideas?
Remove BOTH fuses from the EBTCM.. Fuse # 52 & 53 & 5.. Fuse #8 doesnt matter.
Your braking system will default to ALL MANUAL braking.. Just like the GOOD OLE DAYS..
If the issue doesnt happen when the system is electrically isolated,, and in manual mode,,, we can go from there.

Alright thanks. I'll pull the fuses tomorrow and drive around for a bit and see if I get any issues with it. Though I don't have a base line test to do now to see if it will do it or not. I was giving it some speed today and it wouldn't do it though randomly when I was going like 10 mph and started touching the brake it did it. So Idk how long I'll have to drive with no abs to see if it's the issue or not.
Edit. So just left work. Spun out in first a bunch and brake did it again. So guess I can still get my baseline after I pull the fuses. Spun out in 2nd gear on purpose getting on Highway and hit brakes no issue. I'll update tomorrow.
Pulled fuses. Gave it hell and no brake issue. Put fuses back in and gave it hell and no issue. So Idk. I mean it's my daily driver so I'll notice it eventually again. Thanks for the help so far, the journey continues lol.

Well running with no fuses few the past couple months has been no issue. I've put them back in multiple times and had the brake issue come back. So I'm assuming it's the ebcm. Though I don't get any codes when the module is in that it's bad. So where can I look at that's giving me issues?
If the system is/was working normaly, when you felt the brake modulation, the system would have sent a message to the IPC .. The DIC would message AH or ABS ot TC active..
I would say that you need a new EBTCM.. They are a plug and play module so ,, you dont need any special stuff to install it..
