I broke a pushrod (not bent, broke) and found reminents of it on my magnetic oil drain plug, so we pulled the engine out and sent the bottom end to be checked and any issues corrected.
What should I do now that it's out of the car and apart?
The engine is at a shop called TR5252 that does engine rebuilds for local Chevy dealers and also for a NHRA Super Stock team that runs a LS1 F-body.
They are doing a stage I heads setup and will be dialing in a Lunati 221/221 .558/.558 114 LSA cam when they reassemble it. Since they honed the block I've got some forged JE eyebrowed pistons on order also.
Even though my clutch has only 6k miles on it I'm thinking about putting in a Centerforce dual plate clutch also.
vetterdstr,
I am having it balanced too. I'm really extending my Heads & Cam budget with the engine rebuild. What is the ball park costs for new rods & crank?
I think they had a kit available for $3 or $4 Grand.. with Pistons.... check TByrne Motorsports for Kit prices... Now is the time to do these things... while the engine is out... ;) If not you will have a great motor anyway.
with the 355 rwhp I had before the H/C, PCM tune, LS6 intake, & balancing I think another 100 rwhp is not unreasonable. And with the forged eyebrowed pistons is should be fairly bullet proof also.
455 rwhp, well I'm hoping it will. I'm throwing that out for a little discussion also.
I've always heard that H/C will add 100...will it? I'm also having the TB ported to 80mm and haven't completely decided on the method of PCM programming to go with.
I should get 8-10 from the LS6 intake also. I was a little disappointed to only get 15 rwhp when I did the LT headers / X-pipe so I'm think there was some left on the table waiting for the right heads.
I'm also having the UD pulley double keyed to prevent it from coming off.
I'm having TR5252 put it all together except for the intake. so the main issue for me will be getting it back in the car and getting all the sensors hooked back up.
I still haven't decided on PCM tuning yet, I'm still considering a few options. It will be about 3 weeks before my pistons are made and the folks @ TR5252 always take off a week before the NHRA US Nationals.
