Default Question re intake manifold

It appears I will be pulling my intake manifold off to get at a bad knock sensor. My question is, while its off, can I get it ported? How detailed and exacting does a porting need to be? Is it just grind away, or is it take .005mm off of this and .010mm off of that? Also, who would do this type of work, a machine shop? As it costs $500 to get an LS6 intake manifold, could it be done cheaper and better porting my existing one?

Nobody has had good experiences with ported manifolds really. A few may have gotten more peak hp but really bad lowend power, which is why nobody really sells ported manifolds right now. Its plastic. Doubt you'll find a machine shop that'd touch it, and if you did, you'd be best staying away.

Get the ls6 manifold or keep the stock one as is.

I did not know it was plastic   that's amazing! I guess I'll skip the manifold and go for Nitrous :D thanks for the info.

J, you can get the new intake... but dont expect any SOTP improvement. :nono: Most swaps on a car like that will only get you 5 rwhp at best.
