I realize this is trivial for many of you but I am new to the Vette scene. I have a 1999 Corvette Convertible and I need to replace the passenger front turn signal bulb. I did some searching on YouTube and found that you "might" be able to get at it through the brake air damn on the front fender. When I tried that, I got my arm and hand stuck.
After looking at it more, it looks like my next option is to go through the tire well but I need to first purchase a low profile jack to lift the car up and remove the wheel.
My question is this, what is the best way to change out this bulb?
You can open the headlights and remove the inside cover (three screws Philips head and reach down and remove the socket from there. Be sure and remove the negative battery cable after opening the lights to prevent the lights from closing on you hand. Hope this helps.
This post describes the 3 most common ways to do this, and it includes illustrations so you could visualize where you are going.
I do it through the bottom panel, without removing the tire or jacking up the car, although a ramp or a piece of wood to raise it a couple of inches would make it easier

GCG, this worked great...thanks. I decided to put LED turn signal bulbs in while I was in there...when I tested them they blinked fast as if a light was burned out. Put stock bulbs back in and they acted normal. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

LED bulbs don't pull enough juice and the car thinks that bulb is OUT...

GCG, disregard I found tons of stuff on the forum about the hyperflashing. However, I am still trying to figure out if I can just change out the directionals with LEDs and a Flasher module without affecting the rest of the stock lights. More research...fun though.
I put LEDs in my front lights only. I did the flasher mod and installed an electronic type flasher and the lights all worked just fine. You can search the forum and find the mod. It is not to hard to do the mod.

If you want a plug-and-play solution without having to cut any wire, a hyperflash harness is all you need.
You could also do it yourself with a LED flasher like the one below. It can handle loads from 20mA to 20A without a problem.

Zachaeous...not sure what you mean by electronic type flasher? The research I did last night showed me that I can change out the flasher module but I did not see anything referencing an electronic type flasher.
I did a mod that bypasses the hazard flasher in the dash. You cut the wires that go to the hazard flasher for the turn signals and install a electronic flasher there. I got the parts at Auto zone socket and flasher. It took about a hour to do the whole job. Here is a link on how to do this: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-signals.html
This does not effect the operation of the hazard flasher it still works and it flashes the led bulbs just fine when activated.

This is a very clean solution. You can do it yourself like this as well, but you would need to find the connectors to really make it plug-and-play and avoid cutting or splicing cables.
The previous owner was charged $85 to change front turn signal bulb. I did it by manually raising headlight, remove hood support/bumper. Reach in unplug bulb CCW. Push it out through brake duct change bulb and reinstall. Actually the bulb wasn't burnt out the connections were bad. I cleaned connectors and a important step is I applied dielectric grease to prevent anymore corrosion or connection problems. I searched this forum and chose the simplest suggestion and it worked great, Thanks.
