I just got a C1241 magna steer error code in my 1997 C5 while driving on the freeway.
The steering suddenly got a lot stickier as well.
Could this be due the leaking steering rack or is there something else I should be looking?
Ah,,,,, You have the schematic & the TROUBLESHOOTING Procedures. Can you use a METER?
You need to check:
The connector/pigtail on the steering rack, the connector (specifically the FEMALE PINS for damage/spread apart) and you can check voltage and ground at the harness from the EBTCM.
I have a 2002 ZO6. I have a C1241 code that comes back after I remove it. I took it to a local shop that said the EBCM needs to be repaired. ABS Fixer said a repaired EBCM would not fix code C1241. Is this true?

Brother,,,, You need to do a little SELF Diagnostics investigation... Start with the connector on the rack. Is it properly connected and in good shape??
Go look at it and see if the wires are damaged and or the pins in the connector are in good shape.
You will more than likely be asked to take some voltage and resistance readings at that connector. BE PREPAIRED to do that. Get a meter and learn how to use it to get the raw data.

Bill
Thanks Bill, I originally checked the wires and connector. They looked good, however I did not take any meter readings. It's in an independent repair shop now anyway, so I am going to let them deal with it.
