When I helped a Forum member in Canada solve his vibration issue, I think he started off with one trimmed down washer. A whole washer was too heavy. You may need to **** off some of the washers weight.

If you install one washer and don't see any improvement; before you give up, try a trimmed down washer that is less weight and see if that helps.

The pins that are inserted in the outer rim of the OEM Flywheel are very small.

Bill, my tech is saying on my 2002 C5 Z06 there is no access to the pressure plate. Is this possible? Where did you get access to it and can you explain more? I actually have had the dealership look at this thread so some guidance and detailed instructions would help. The driveline doesn't have to come out to do this does it? Thanks for your help.

Kevin

The LOWER section of the bell housing comes off. It requires (at least it did on mine) the headers to be loosened up.

If I remember correctly it is secured by six small fasteners. Once that cover is off, you have easy access to the lower part of the clutch.

You can see the cover in this picture. My headers bolt to the bottom of it:

Still having issues with the car. My tech didn't want to take apart the exhaust to get to the pressure plate because the cost would have been another 4-5 houirs of labor with no guarantee it would work so he tried putting weights on the crankshaft pulley. IT did move the vibration around to different rpm points. So I am not sure if that means I definitely have an issue back at the clutch assembly or not. At this point it is winter here and I have $4000 into this car and screwing around with this issue so I have given up trying to fix it for now. If the vibration bugs still in the spring time they said they would offer a discount to go back in and try and figure it out. Are there places or a service offered where someone could come on site to do a complete balancing of the assembly as a whole in the car? This issue is driving me nuts and I have now read a ton of horror stories where people have vibration at the same exact point in rpm because their flywheel counter-balancing was not repeated on the new flywheel. One guy actually just rebuilt his motor to get rid of the issue. I'm seriously considering selling the car so I can get one of the C5's off of GM's assembly line that doesn't have this issue and didn't need to be fine tune balanced by the flywheel. What a pain in the *$$!!!

YES,,, GOOGLE "Vibration Analysis" in (your state or region)

Here is what I found for MY area:

http://vibration.us/index.php?page=h...FQotHwodMSANVA

There were TONs more companies listed..

You still will need to get the car UP in the air and remove the access cover if you want someone to figure out where it needs weight. THEN,,,,, You will need to find a way to balance out what they find out of balance.

So, you are basically in the same line of repair except it will be balanced down to a mouse whisker with the analysis equiment.

This really isnt difficult. Find a friend with a garage lift.

The damper balance is also a PART of the GM Hot balance procedure on manual C5/C6 engines and the service manual has a very specific procedure for damper removal and replacement on a C5/6 MN6/12 Engine.
The damper is small in diameter so, it will not have as great of an effect as the fly wheel.

If it were my car, I would hunt down a lift or jack stands (like I do when I do drivetrain repairs) and dig in.

I really wish I had the time to do it myself cause I always used to do my own work when I had a WS6 LS1 car but now I just don't have the time with a new born baby at home. My wife would kill me should I ever not be around to help her with the baby. Really sucks having to spend money on something I know I can do myself but I really have no option right now. I will look for a company that is willing to go look at the car on a lift at the shop. I will contact you if I need some more help. Thanks so much for all your Bill. I owe you big time! It's such a great resource having people on this forum willing to help other people out.
