Default Ecklers torque tube couplers

has anyone used ecklers torque tube couplers? the GM ones seem way overpriced to me. Ecklers has some for $45 but i wonder how well they are holding up.

This is just an observation and quite a bit of experience with no intention to insult any supporting vendors...

Vendors sell a wide variety of products from many sources. I've purchased repackaged name brand items with similar prices available from local parts houses to cheap Chinese reproductions that I was afraid to install. This statement includes anything from hard parts to trim screws. I bought a complete set of front end rebuild parts for my C3 that had both Moog and no-name parts in the same box. Guess which ones I had to replace after a year of occasional driving?

If a part is significantly cheaper than a known good part, such as the GM couplers, I tend to be skeptical of the long term quality any more. It's a case of buyer beware.

I handled the DORMAN Brand couplers that my friend purchased from the local parts store for his 2000 coupe.

I immediately said. Ahh,,,,, NO, Take those F*@$%^# back and get the GM ONES!

They were softer (lower durometer) rubber and likely to distort under power.

If it were a quick replacement part that could be easily changed if it failed, then I might be willing to try the part. However, given where the couplers are located and how much work it is to get at them, I would go with the best part you can find. That is a job I wouldn't want to do twice.

I replaced my clutch myself and it is not an easy job. That being said I would buy the best couplers I could find regardless of cost if I needed them. I wouldn't want to do this job twice.

Is there any consensus on which replacement is the best? Best in my mind has more to do with longevity than smoothness.

See posts 2, 3, and 4 with which I concur. Genuine GM couplers all the way. Do not even CONSIDER other alternative rubber couplers.

Hint: shop around the various GM sources as prices vary even among the GM sources themselves.

I have a set of Gm 12mm rubber couplers that were installed and never driven on (I opted for the solid aluminum ones for race car)
