So today i was driving the vette and was almost home and the car died on me. i was coming up to a red light and the car died now I'm not sure if it made small pop noise or not as i wasn't really paying attention but i tried starting the car and it just cranks and crank and cranks. i had some past wiring issues with oil temp wiring and missing a ground on it so i made new ground and tied it back into the wiring harness. i checked that ground and it tests fine with multimeter. I have good fuel pressure and no spark. I checked all fuses and switched some relays and no spark. any ideas?
Use the dic to pull the codes and see what you get. What doesn't show up can also be helpful as it could eliminate some of the possibilities. How do you know you have good fuel pressure? Did you use a fuel pressure gauge?
I accidentally cleared everything to make sure no issues and no codes have returned with he many times I've cranked it. I have an aftermarket fpr with gauge and shows food pressure. I tested spark plugs and there is no spark.
With no codes to point you in the right direction, I'd start by checking for proper grounds, chaffed wiring and crank sensor. Might be a loose connection at the crank sensor too. I'd get my light out and carefully check around the starter area. Look for broken or chaffed wiring. Check that ground wire on the back of the block. GL with this as electrical problems can be hard to locate. Just be patient and methodical. You'll find it. Keep us updated.
Got to thinking about this a little more. Since you don't have any codes plus you don't get any spark, I'm starting to think bad or loose ground. Double check that ground wire on the back of the head. If that is loose or broken, it would cause these exact symptoms.
Got it fixed. I probbed the injector to make sure they were firing. They were food. I double checked grounds on coils with light and they were good. I then checked power wires to coils and no power. I checked fuse again and was good. I then checked wot box. As I forgot that splits the coil power wire to coils. Both looked good but I put a jumper in instead of the wotbox. Car started up. I plugged in wotbox after a reset and it started. Looks like that was the issue. Thanks man!
Glad you found it. Methodical testing will get to the bottom of most of these issues. Of course, none of us knew you had a wotbox. Certainly glad you got it fixed. That'll make for a Happy New Year !!
